The Winery

Château Heritage is a family owned and operated winery located in the small town of Kab-Elias, in the Bekaa-Valley of Lebanon. The winery is owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Touma family who settled in the Bekaa-Valley in Lebanon in 1888 to plant vines and produce wines and alcoholic beverages. “We are proud to preserve the long history of Family traditions and to benefit from the experience and know-how passed down from generation to generation”.

In 1997, Château Heritage moved into an old abandoned historic building built in 1927. The architecture of the building was preserved and the cellar was designed to adapt to the curves and small alleys of the building. In 2000, the estate began to market its first bottles of wine in the Lebanese market. In 2006, the export operation pushed the domain's wines to be present on the international markets and especially in Europe and Germany.

A family business by excellence, all aspects of the business are run hands on by the Touma Family members especially the three Touma brothers Dargham, Wissam and Houssam. Going from vine to consumer, the family touch is well noticed all while preserving the artisanal style of wine production that has given Chateau Heritage its unique identity. Chateau Heritage works exclusively with non-irrigated vines from the Bekaa-Valley with a preference to the hilly sides of the Valley.

Located at an altitude of 1000m above the Mediterranean Sea, the vineyards benefit from the unique and favorable weather conditions of the Bekaa-Valley which provides the grapes with all the elements necessary to have high quality grape varieties.

The Bekaa-Valley is characterized by a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with moderate seasonal rains (200-800mm per year) and a lot of sun exposure (around 300 days of sunshine per year).

Summers are dry with hot days and cool nights. The temperatures vary between 18°C and 35°C.

Winters are cold with lots of rain, occasional snow and temperatures ranging from -5°C to 20°C.

Spring is known for its heat and very occasional rainfall.

The mountains that surround the Bekaa-Valley, as well as the location of the CH TEAU on their hills, provide ideal weather conditions for the proper growth of the grapes which are used for the production of very expressive and very generous wines.

The Château works today with a vineyard extending over 64-hectares that is entirely located in different towns of the Bekaa-Valley. The vines have an average age between 15 and 20-years-old. The vines used for the creation of our "Family Reserve" bottle are old vines with an age of around 38 years.

The plots are located on various terroirs including Limestone, Calcareous-Clay, and/or Clay-Silty-Limestone. This variation in terroir gives us the advantage of having wines with a variant aromatic complexity that is very expressive.
